How to get customers to leave reviews with photos (and why it matters)

A review with a photo of the finished job is worth several plain ones. Here is how to make it part of every job, without nagging customers.

A plain five-star review helps. A review with a photo of the finished work - the new roof, the clean install - does more, because it is unmistakably real and it shows the homeowner reading it exactly what they would get. Photos in reviews are some of the most persuasive proof you can have, and almost no contractor asks for them.

Why photo reviews punch above their weight

  • They are visibly authentic - no one fakes a photo of your actual job.
  • They show the result, not just the sentiment.
  • They make your Google profile richer, which Google rewards.
  • A homeowner comparing two roofers will pick the one whose reviews show the work.

How to actually get them

  1. Take the "after" photo yourself, on the customer's phone. When the job is done and they are happy, offer to snap a photo of the finished work on their phone. Now they have it ready to attach.
  2. Send the review link right then. While they are standing there pleased, text the direct link. "Would you mind posting that photo with a quick review? It really helps us." One tap, photo already in hand.
  3. Make the ask specific. "A line about the storm-damage repair and that photo would mean a lot" beats "please review us."
  4. Train every tech to do it. The person who did the work asking in the moment converts far better than any follow-up email.

What not to do

  • Do not offer anything in exchange - that breaks Google's rules and can get reviews removed.
  • Do not nag. One ask in the moment, maybe one gentle follow-up. Beyond that you are annoying people.
  • Do not stage fake photos. Homeowners and Google both see through it.

Putting them to work

Reviews with photos earn their keep twice - in local search, and on your website where a live review feed shows a homeowner real jobs and real words from real customers. The profile collects them; the site displays them to the visitor who is deciding. We can wire that feed into your site so the proof you collect on every job shows up automatically where it closes the next one.
